The British Association of Snowsport Instructors (BASI) has announced the names of the ten elite skiers that will represent the Association at the INTERSKI World Congress, which will take place in Ushuaia, Argentina during September 2015.
Those selected to represent BASI in its Demo Team are Alain Baxter, Jaz Lamb, Rupert Goldring, Rupert Tildesley, Lynn Sharp, Amanda Pirie, Paul Garner, Giles Lewis, Craig Robinson and James Lister.
After much deliberation during the selection process BASI’s Product Manager Roy Henderson and Team Coach Andi McCann selected the top ten skiers to represent Great Britain from a highly talented pool of candidates. Roy commented, “The skiers were selected for their excellent technical ability, their delivery skills and their knowledge of our pathways and philosophies. We had a group of 26 amazing skiers to choose from and my thanks must go out to all who attended a very sunny and successful selection weekend in Zermatt.” A link to video coverage of the selection weekend is available at http://youtu.be/SQeVctQA5QY
INTERSKI is an international event where all of the ski nations of the world come together to share technical innovations and snowsport teaching knowledge. BASI representation at this event helps to create and improve employment opportunities around the world for BASI members.
Hosted only once every four years, countries attending INTERSKI look to BASI for inspiration for their own training methods and over the years, the BASI Demo Team has become widely recognised for displaying some of the highest standards within the Snowsports industry.
BASI’s aim at the INTERSKI event is to maintain and improve the credibility and therefore the employability, of BASI instructors. The demonstration events and workshops are used to demonstrate that BASI instructors are technically amongst the best in the world!
Originally formed as BAPSI in 1962, changing its name to BASI in 1964, the Association currently has over 6,000 members who are actively involved in delivering instruction to recreational ski and snowboard enthusiasts at snowsport centres in the UK as well as at ski resorts in 38 countries worldwide
