Leading this year’s campaign is our Australia ops director, Russell Bonner and popular yacht instructor,  Gregor McGowan. New year, new job? Aye-aye skipper!

January all too often brings with it the jobs blues. By the end of the the first week, the feel-good factor of Christmas has worn off, you’ve broken most of your New Year resolutions and the weather is getting you down – especially if you’re the kind of person who’d really rather be out on the water, under a warm sun…

That’s when you turn to the Flying Fish recruitment board and find dozens of jobs available on yachts around the world – as skippers, sailing instructors, delivery and deck crew – just begging for you to apply for them…

A gap year sailing – meet Alex Martin

23 year old Alex Martin, from Southampton, is on a gap year with Flying Fish in in Australia completing his Yachtmaster training.

The Yachtmaster course has been so much fun, and I have enjoyed every part of it so far. I started the course with minimal yachting experience and I am now training for the Sydney to Hobart race.
Living in Manly and training out of Middle Harbour is fantastic, it’s such an amazing place. The offshore passages are great as you get to travel up and down the coast seeing Sydney in a completely different way, it’s also a really easy way of meeting new people. It’s lucky they are all really nice people!!

Flying Fish down under is hot, hot, hot

It’s sunny, 25 degrees, 25 knots nor easter, 2m sea on a 3m swell – typical Sydney summer forecast.
The wind is blowing, the sun is shining, and the surf is pumping here in Manly Beach, Sydney.

Come and join us for some fun in the sun!

Our six week instructor courses are suitable for complete beginners and for those who already have a bit of experience.
