The new Hilleberg Niak 1.5 is a supremely comfortable yet lightweight three-season tent that is a palace for one person on any summer or warm weather trip. “We are very excited about the Niak,” says Bo Hilleberg, company founder, CEO and head of the product development group. “We call it the ‘Niak 1.5’ because it is the perfect solo tent when you want to be as comfortable as possible at a low weight – just 1.6 kg. But at the same time, it is quite

suitable for two people who want to go as light as possible, and is especially good for a parent and a child, or one person and a dog.”

The Niak has had extensive testing, as well as over 250 backcountry nights of use. “The Niak holds up superbly,” says Bo, “even in rough conditions. Our backcountry testers have used the Niak in Scandinavia and the US, as well as in the Alps and in Scotland, among other places.”

Joining the Yellow Label line of three season tents, the Niak is a two-pole, single entrance/vestibule tent. As with all Hilleberg Yellow Label models, the Niak’s venting system is built into its construction. Its inner tent door is all mesh, and the walls of the outer tent are designed to provide constant air flow inside the tent. The Niak has catenary curves integrated into the bottom edges of the outer tent, which creates the space for air flow while ensuring that the outer tent is stretched properly for optimal performance.

“We wanted to expand on the concept of very lightweight, three-season tents that we introduced last year with the one-person Enan,” explains Bo. “We used the same Kerlon 600 outer tent fabric – our lightest – and DAC NSL 9 mm poles as we did in the Enan, and so the Niak is as light as we are willing to make it while still having the strength and reliability of a Hilleberg tent.”
