Operation CLAMP DOWN 2 is well underway, with the cooperation of every police force in SE England – here, Voluntary Bailiff John Marlow (extreme left) and VBS Solent Area Coordinator Keith Dipper are pictured patrolling Hampshire river Test with PC Alan McCaffery of Hampshire Police, and EA Fisheries Inspector Dave Hunter

.
Angling Trust Fisheries Enforcement Manager Dilip Sarkar said: “Everyone working together, sharing intelligence and resources in this way can only have a positive effect on fisheries enforcement generally and Rural and Wildlife Crime. We are delighted with the positive response from an increasing number of forces, who are becoming more aware of the wider implications of poaching and the criminal offences involved – which are their responsibility to deal with.

All anglers can contribute to this process simply by reporting incidents in progress, or information, to the police on 101/999 as appropriate, or the EA on 0800 80 70 60. It must be understood that all enforcement these days is intelligence-led – meaning that those calls are absolutely crucial. Unless anglers make them and start understanding how the system works, we will never make it work for us. So make that call!”Operation CLAMP DOWN 2 is well underway
