Spring is in the Air!

Spring has sprung and, as the evenings lengthen with each day, we’re making the most of the gorgeous warm weather here in the Alps to hike, run, bike and climb.

At Tracks and Trails this is definitely one of our favourite times – and Tuscany is the perfect destination for hiking at this time of the year. We’ve a few spaces on our ‘Wild Tuscany’ hiking week this May: join us for breathtaking scenery in the little gem that is the Garfagnana region!

The Dramatic Dolomites

The Dolomites are a UNESCO World Heritage site and the southern Tyrol’s truly unique natural wonder. It’s no exaggeration to say that the forests and mountains here are widely regarded as being among the most attractive landscapes in the world.

We’ve scheduled 4 week-long hiking trips on which to discover the exceptional beauty of the Dolomites this summer and hike the Alta Via. For trail runners we’ve also created Alta Via running weeks to experience this amazing high altitude trail: read more on our dedicated trip page to the Alta Via Run.

Wild Tuscany

Trekking in Tuscany through an ancient landscape of breathtaking mountain walking and exceptional hospitality. This is not the rolling vineyards and cyprus avenues of Chianti, but an untamed land of chestnut and beech forest with ridges and jagged peaks which offers an array of sensational trails.

We will be hiking the limestone summits of the Apuane Alps and the more benign features of the Apennine range around the hilltop town of Barga, north of Lucca.

Classic Haute Route

This is one of the world’s great multi-day treks, linking the famous mountaineering capitals of Chamonix, France and Zermatt, Switzerland. We start this fabulous adventure from the 300 year old hamlet of Argentiere in the Chamonix valley. Although demanding at times the route provides a non-technical trek and is suitable for those who would like to experience the very best walking in the Alps. Throughout this 210 kilometre trek we follow good paths and tracks.
