Fjallraven in the Arctic: We’ve Got your Back
You’ve no doubt seen these classic backpacks on the backs of a few celebrities including, Zooey Deschanel, Kristen Steweart, and Zac Efron. (See Photos) and on style blogs worldwide. Founded over 50 years ago in Sweeden, Fjallraven’s driving force has been to develop products that make it easier for people to enjoy the countryside. Their Kanken backpack was originally created in 1978 for Swedish school children but has become their most iconic, well-loved backpack for young and old worldwide.
Earlier this month, they launched Fjallraven Polar, a 300km long winter adventure across the Arctic tundra from Norway to Swedish Lapland. This summer, Arctic guests aboard Quark’s 50 Years of Victory and Sea Spirit voyages will be able to find the colorful classic Kanken in their onboard Polar Boutique. They’re made of very hard-wearing fabric that repels moisture better than any other synthetic fabric and contains a removable seat cover at the back, perfect for sitting on some Arctic snow and enjoying the amazing stillness.
